Communications

Long before texting, emails, cell phones, and all the messaging apps of today, we had to get creative about getting information back and forth, and the railway was how we did a lot of that. Come check out the communications room while making your way through all the exhibits at your local railroad museum, every Saturday and Sunday in downtown Teague, Tx!

Big Mike

All Aboard! One of the most popular exhibits is “Big Mike”, the 1925 steam engine displayed on a track beside the depot. Come climb aboard and ring the bell of this restored Baldwin-Locomotive!

1800’s Era Cabin

Donated by Dale and Bonnie McCeig, these cabins make you really appreciate today’s creature comforts such as air-conditioning, indoor plumbing, electricity, and WIFI!

Printing Press

You don’t see these just anywhere, especially in condition this good! See issues of The Teague Chronicle printed on this press and learn what was news in the early 1900’s.

Other Exhibits

Some exhibits you’ll enjoy that are not featured above include a realistic model train set displaying scenery from our home town, the world’s second largest salt and pepper shaker collection, a jail cell from the old City Hall, a shoe shine stand that was used in a local barber shop, and a phone booth. Visit the local history, military, and Victorian rooms. There is an entire building dedicated to firemen of days past, including a working 1928 Seagraves fire engine. You’ll find lots of railroad memorabilia from the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway (TBV), and a section dedicated to the Sam Houston Zephyrs, the passenger trains which ran the rails from 1936 to 1966.

It would take days to explore everything in the depot musuem! Why not check it out for yourself any Saturday from 10a-2p or Sunday from 1p-4p, located in downtown Teague near the railroad tracks!
